Stage 6: Active oxygen reacts with the zeolite gas ﬁ lter to clean out the trapped gases and odours, so that the

ﬁ lter rejuvenates.

Stage 4: Active oxygen sterilises the trapped bacteria and viruses.

Stage 3: Charged ultra-ﬁ ne particles are trapped by the ESP particle ﬁ lter.

Stage 2: Finer particles are charged by the corona particle charger.

Stage 1: The pre-ﬁ lter catches big particles.

The Philips Air Cleaner ﬁ lters many particles and dust from the air, but does not ﬁ lter out heavy dust particles that fall quickly to the ﬂ oor.

* The lifetime of the ﬁ lters is substantially shortened by exposure to tabacco smoke:

- 0 to 1 cigarette a day: estimated lifetime of 5 years

- 5 to 10 cigarettes a day: estimated lifetime of 6 to 12 month

- 20 cigarettes a day: estimated lifetime of 3 to 6 months
